2024.2: Don't fall behind

Have you noticed? When you work on a project - any kind of project - there are usually two main points to focus on: on one hand, you can work on a more structural level, and on the other, you can concentrate on “aesthetically-functional” elements.
Let me explain what I mean. In the former case, we work on the project core, the hidden engine upon which the entire project is based. This aspect isn't easily seen, but it needs to function properly for everything else to work smoothly.
In the latter case, we concentrate on the parts of the project that you can easily notice: what can be seen, heard, or touched, and the parts we interact with to get what we want.
As you know, our “project” is called WebSite X5 and lately, we’ve been focusing mainly on the structural aspects, the "hidden engine under the hood". These updates and optimizations were necessary in the short term but also laid the groundwork for new functions in store for the future.
But, don’t worry - the new version 2024.2 includes some new interesting features as well. Let’s explore them together.
Payments with Stripe
The most important new feature in version 2024.2 is definitely the Stripe integration. You’ve been requesting it, and we’re happy to finally be able to satisfy you.
As you probably already know, Stripe is one of the most popular platforms for payment management worldwide.
Thanks to this brand-new integration, you can now open an account directly from WebSite X5 and use Stripe on your online shop to accept any kind of payment, including credit and debit cards, digital wallets, bank transfers, vouchers and more than 135 different currencies.
Stripe is easy to use, offers diverse customer interfaces to create customized payment experiences, and provides additional services while ensuring high standards of security in transactions.
Automatic file management
We decided to make things easier by having WebSite X5 manage the files used in your projects.
You are, of course, still free to use all the files you want. In every section where you can import a file, you now find two options: Local File, which allows you to access the Windows File Selection window and select a file available on your PC, Online Library, to access the integrated online libraries of free and premium images.
The Project Library will no longer be available, it will be automatically managed by the software. You can still get the necessary information about your project and its connected resources on the Project Optimization window.
This way, you can easily identify the resources that are no longer connected to the project (such as files you previously imported and then removed), make a backup, and then remove them to make your project cleaner and lighter.

The list of improvements in the new v.2024.2 also includes:
- The integration of Google ReCaptcha 3. This service helps protect websites from spam. In this version, it can distinguish humans and bots based on users' previous actions. As a result, if all goes well, it allows you to proceed without having to click on the "I am not a robot" checkbox.
- A new library for the publishing engine. This new library for the FTP engine adds support for several new encryption algorithms (TLS, Transport Layer Security), making it compatible with more servers.
- Video management. Now you can set a cover image and have the video play on click or mouseover.
- Tooltip style. The new settings give you more control over tooltip style, allowing you to better customize the tips that offer additional information on the link they are associated to.
Editions update
We hadn’t done it in a while and realized it was time. With version 2024.2, we’ve introduced some changes to the WebSite X5 edition plans, to make them even more distinctive.
We want Evo to focus on inexperienced user needs, they can now create a simple and functional website for themselves, their hobby, or business. At the same time, we want Pro to perfectly meet the more specific needs of professional users.
Because of this, we decided to concentrate the online shop-related functions only in the Pro edition: of course, all the projects created in the past will still be working, and we are here to help with any questions you may have.
