2022.1: Focus on yourself with Personal Branding

WebSite X5
Published by Incomedia in WebSite X5 News · Thursday 03 Mar 2022
We asked ourselves: "What could really be of use at this start of the year to those who are looking for new stimuli to kick-start or give renewed momentum to their careers?"

WebSite X5 already allowed you to create a personal website complete with everything you need: a bio page, image/video galleries, contact forms, blogs, reviews, social media links... However, there was still one thing missing: an an item that would make it possible to create a simple and instant overview of all the best work that has already been done. That's how the new Portfolio Item was born, and today we are presenting it together with other new features introduced in the 2022.1 version.

Portfolio Item: Show off what you are capable of

There are many reasons to create an online portfolio. If you are a freelancer, you can use it to showcase your work and encourage potential customers to contact you. If, on the other hand, you are a professional or a student looking for a job, you can build your online portfolio to prove your skills and convince companies to call you for an interview. In short, an online portfolio helps you promote yourself, attract new customers and find job opportunities in line with your skills and experiences.

Thanks to the new Portfolio Item - you can find it in the list of Items installed with the software - adding a portfolio of your most important work to your personal website is really very easy.

Prepare a picture, a title and a short description for each of the works you want to include: you will need them to make presentation cards. You can complete each card with one or two buttons and decide to use them to link to an in-depth page, a gallery, a pdf file or any other type of material you need. The cards will automatically compose a wall: you, of course, can customize the various graphic elements and animation effects. If the works included are numerous, you can complete your portfolio with practical search tools: filtering by category or date, or by performing a free search, your users can quickly find the works that interest them most.

Ready to create your portfolio? We have prepared a short, step-by-step guide explaining what you need to do: What is a portfolio and how do you create it?

Increase sales with installment payments

While the Portfolio Item is designed for those who have a personal website through which they need to work on their Personal Branding, the other important new feature introduced in v.2022.1 will appeal to all those who use WebSite X5 to create and maintain their e-commerce site.

If you're part of this group, you'll be happy to know that with PayPal'sBuy Now Pay Later integration, you can give your customers the ability to pay in installments. Think about the benefits: customers pay in 3 or 4 installments (set by PayPal based on the country) with no added interest; you increase sales and receive the full amount immediately (PayPal manages the installments). A win-win situation for everyone!

Think about it! By allowing payments in installments, you lower the barriers that prevent clients from checking-out and obtain a resulting boost in sales. In addition, you will stand out from other stores by offering a service that will positively impact customer satisfaction and increase customer loyalty.

Bet you now want to know what you need to do to activate installment payments on your store right away? In reality, it's pretty simple. If you are already using the PayPal Commerce Platform, you just need to enable an option to ensure that the ability to pay in installments is properly displayed at all necessary points. We explain everything in this guide: How to offer payment in installments thanks to PayPal's Buy Now Pay Later service

The Buy Now Pay Later service is currently active in the following countries: United Kingdom, France, Germany, United States, and Australia. It will soon be made available also in Italy, Spain, and Canada. To check countries and availability dates, rates, terms and conditions, check the PayPal website (paypal.com).

What happens next?

We have also planned for Google Analytics 4 integration, enhanced video insertion on the entry page, and added a search field to instantly find the items you need to insert into your pages.

As far as Google Analytics 4 is concerned, it is worth noting that this is the new version of Google's well-known monitoring and analysis service. Compared to the well-known and still widely used Universal Analytics, it offers a completely different graphic design and operating system: the approach, in fact, is centered on the detection of user interactions and behaviors, rather than on the users themselves.

If you're curious to try Google Analytics 4 on your site, all you have to do is get and enter the tracking code. In the guide How do I activate Google Analytics™? we explain how.

That's about it. We are confident that the new tools in v2022.1 will help you to make your personal website or e-commerce site even more efficient and effective. While you are busy checking out all the new features, we are already working on the next v2022.2. We'll be in touch soon with other interesting news.
